WIDTH OF A WITCH

CAConrad in conversation with Damian Rogers > JUNE 24

TYPE Books is pleased to present the American poet CAConrad in conversation with his fellow poet Damian Rogers.

Conrad
will discuss Width of a Witch, a collaborative project with the artist Jason Dodge, which will open the following night at Mercer Union Gallery. TYPE will be selling copies of Conrad's new chapbook, published by Dodge's Fivehundredplaces press, as well as new chapbooks by Eileen Myles and Roger Reeves.

Born on January 1, 1966, CAConrad describes himself as "the son of white trash asphyxiation whose childhood included selling cut flowers along the highway for his mother and helping her shoplift." He is the author of numerous collections of poetry, including ECODEVIANCE: (Soma)tics for the Future Wilderness (Wave Books, 2014). A 2014 Lannan Fellow, a 2013 MacDowell Fellow, and a 2011 Pew Fellow, he also conducts workshops on (Soma)tic poetry and Ecopoetics.

Jason Dodge was born in 1969 in Newtown, Pennsylvania, and lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Upcoming exhibitions include the Liverpool Biennial, and a solo presentation at IAC Villeurbanne, France. Dodge founded Fivehundredplaces in 2012 to present books by contemporary poets to contemporary artists and everyone who reads poems.

Damian Rogers was born and raised in suburban Detroit and now lives in Toronto. She earned a BA at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and an MFA at the Bennington Writing Seminars at Bennington College. Her first book, Paper Radio, was published by ECW Press in 2009; a second book, Dear Leader, was published by Coach House Books in 2015, and is a fianlist for the 2016 Trillium Award for Poetry. Rogers works as the poetry editor of both House of Anansi Press and The Walrus, and as the creative director of Poetry in Voice, a national recitation contest for Canadian high-school students.
