ABOUT THE BOOK
Twenty-five years after her brother’s death, a woman serendipitously comes across a box of her brother’s writing. Through his journals and poetry, she learns the essence of his world, and the love that defined his life. Their relationship is built between the words. Which were the moments that brought laughter, sorrow, confusion, joy? What did he see and feel, and what demons did he face? This is a story about family, about love, and about death – the underlying truth of the stigma and aftermath of suicide. We travel alongside these characters through the pain that accompanies this journey, of finding the clues and picking up the pieces of a life taken too soon. We peer through the crack in the window of grief and see the flowers bloom again.

"Conversations for Two is elegant and moving. It is thoughtful writing, line after line of flowing, beautiful poetry. At times I could almost see the words lifting off the page… Jacqueline Markowitz took such a difficult subject and treated it with respect and loving honesty. Along with the glory of the words, the book itself is a thing of beauty."
