GENTLE & WILD

book launch for Feathers, Paws, Fins, and Claws: Fairy Tale Beasts > MARCH 14

Join University of Guelph professor Jennifer Schacker and her longtime collaborator from the University of Utah, Christine A. Jones, for the Toronto launch of Feathers, Paws, Fins, and Claws: Fairy-Tale Beasts  (Wayne State University Press, 2015).

Animals both gentle and wild populate this collection of vintage tales from the past. The offbeat, haunting, and sometimes surprising stories in this collection come to life through original artwork by Lina Kusaite and award-winning book design. Prolific fairy-tale scholars Schacker and Jones will talk about why they love these stories and how reading them can inspire new vantage points on animals in fantasy writing and on the fairy-tale genre itself.

The evening will include conversation with novelist Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer (All The Broken Things, Perfecting, The Nettle Spinner) and a reading from the anthology.
