launch for Waste by Andrew Sullivan > MARCH 23

Join Type Books at The Garrison to launch Andrew F. Sullivan’s debut novel WASTE , with readings from authors Zoe Whittall, Jon Chan Simpson and Catriona Wright, all hosted by comedian Lauren Mitchell.

"Balancing tenderness and brutality in the palm of his hand, Andrew F. Sullivan has carved out his own category to capture the ugliness of the world, his words always in search and service of some beating heart beneath the dirt. With Waste, Sullivan's deft prose hammers out a harsh, hard-fought harmony that compels you to sit down and listen."
--Miriam Toews, author of All My Puny Sorrows  and A Complicated Kindness

Andrew F. Sullivan is from Oshawa, ON. He is the author of the short story collection, All We Want is Everything, a Globe and Mail Best Book. WASTE is his first novel.

Zoe Whittall’s next novel, The Best Kind of People, will be published in fall of 2016 with House of Anansi Press. Her novel Holding Still for as Long as Possible,  won a Lambda Literary award, was shortlisted for the Relit award, and was an American Library Association’s Stonewall Honor Book. She’s published three books of poetry, and works as a freelance TV writer and journalist in Toronto.

Jon Chan Simpson grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, and lives in Toronto. He is the author of the novel Chinkstar.

Catriona Wright is a writer, editor, and teacher. In 2014 a selection of her poems won Matrix Magazine’s LitPop Award. She is the poetry editor at The Puritan and a co-founder of Desert Pets Press, a chapbook press.

The evening will be hosted by comedian Lauren Mitchell. She is the voice of Cavern of Secrets, a Hazlitt podcast about extraordinary woman.

Bring out every sad and sorrowful person you know, as well as any happy ones too. Spread the word.
